Simplistic quotes like this are used by companies that want to overcharge for their products. Just because you pay more doesn't necessarily mean you're getting higher quality. You don't always get what you pay for.

I agree 100% with "bigyaz". You can't float these blanket statements out there and expect them to apply like a proverb.
Case-in-point: Google. Their "price" is "free". Yet, we don't see the poor quality syndrome.

I'd consider this more of a mantra than a proverb. It's true in e-tailing for sure. You can run all the sales, discount codes, free shipping specials, etc. that you want - but one instance of poor quality (either in your product itself, or in the customer service side of the transaction) and your company will undoubtedly take a hit online. Bad reviews are generally considered to be true by people looking for "honest reviews", while good reviews are generally considered to be fluffed up, added by the company itself, added by people that the company paid to put them there, etc.

It is a real topic. Ikea has a medium quality and low prices... you can remenber low prices.

Er... this is a rip off of a quote by Aldo Gucci: 'Quality is remembered long after price is forgotten', no?
